It’s finally here! Monday marks the start of the third annual Communications Week here in New York City. It’s our strongest line-up yet, with a wide range of panel sessions and webinars all crammed into a single week. Many of you will have joined us at Communications Week in previous years, but if you’re a newcomer, what can you expect from the week ahead?
Well, we’re kicking things off with cocktails courtesy of New York Women in Communications. The Cocktails and Conversations discussion on Monday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. will tackle the need for media and tech businesses to embrace the spirit of entrepreneurialism as the pace of change continues to accelerate. Attendees will hear from business leaders who embody this spirit such as Jeannine Shao Collins, co-founder of Girl Starter and Maria Otero, president of Women's Venture Fund.
Tuesday brings with it an entire day of comms content as the PRSA 2016 Tri-State Conference opens its doors. This year, the conference will feature a keynote from Justin McConney, director of new media for The Trump Organization, who has overseen The Trump Organization’s social media department since 2011. With additional speakers from Refinery29, Girl With No Job, KIND Snacks and more, this is a must-attend event for comms professionals of all levels.
If you’re eager for more, afterward you can pop along to the PRSA-NY: Meet the Media session at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday to hear from a panel of broadcast media influencers as they give an inside look at their outlets and how PRs can work more effectively with them.
On Wednesday, October 19th, it’s the centerpiece of Communications Week, #CommsWeekNY Sessions @ Civic Hall. Starting at 8:30 a.m., attendees will benefit from a morning of networking, keynotes and expert panel sessions exploring our 2016 theme "Reinventing the Industry" with amazing speakers from the biggest brands and agencies, including BizWireTV, PepsiCo, CNBC Digital and Ad Week.
Later on Wednesday, financial comms specialists would do well to head over to the Financial Communications & Innovation Forum. The event, hosted by CommsPro.biz and Equities.com, will take a deep dive into the financial world, looking specifically at the impact of social media and the 24/7 news cycle in the C-suite messaging strategy. There’s also a great webinar to check out from The Content Council analyzing the unprecedented rise of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
Anyone who’s a fan of Digiday media’s new publication Glossy should check out Fashion in Focus @ Glossy Forum 2016 on Thursday – a chance to explore the intersection of fashion and technology in the company of leading marketing and brand executives.
At midday, Business Wire will then bring us a webinar about reaching online audiences with ever-shorter attention spans, “Use Reddit to Increase the Impact of Your News Like a Pro”.
As the week draws to a close, join us at our final event, #CommsWeekNY Sessions @LMHQ on the morning of Friday, October 21st. We’ll be highlighting some of the biggest trends affecting the comms industry today, particularly how technology is changing the content marketing landscape.
